Thanksgiving Eve Thoughts
This week has been an emotional roller coaster with the ride coming to an end tonight. I have been slacking on my blogs and really don't have an excuse. Day after day, my "tasks" list reminds me to write an update blog about my Mom's fight against lung cancer but I never seem to check that off my list...and it won't happen tonight. Instead, I woke up from passing out putting Maddox to sleep in the king size bed that is next to my Mom in her hospital bed. As I washed the sm

Cancer is Cray!
Cancer is Cray! My life has been for the most part an open book. I've blogged about just everything, including stupid cancer hoping that it will give perspective and some sort of comfort that we are not alone fighting this disease.
I had breast cancer in 2006 and my Mom has been battling Stage IV lung cancer since September 2012. She finished her last chemo last Thursday and tomorrow we have her CT scan to see if there has been any "progress". Once we get back the results,

An Inspirational Mom: Kim Dolan Leto
Before I ever was a Mommy I would see these Moms running around town with their kids - FIT AS CAN BE! I remember only hoping that after I had a kid (or two?) that I would be able to maintain some sort of fitnees routine. You’ll be amazed at what you can do with the right time management and a some help from the Dad. As you all know, I am a single Mom but am fortunate to have a good relationship with Maddox’s Dad who loves his son and wants to spend time with him. On the da

Lung Cancer SUCKS! (Part I)
UGH! I can't believe that the last time I blogged was back in September 2012. A lot has gone on since then with Mom's lung cancer. I'm going to try and do my best to recap the last 6 months...
It all started when Mom was complaining that she was having trouble breathing in August 2012. My sister Jenni took her to the emergency room where they did a chest x-ray and found that she had plurel effusion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleural_effusion) which is a large collecti

Cancer is back :(
It’s back. Yes, damn cancer found its way back into my life, this time affecting my Mom’s lungs. On August 28, 2012, I got the dreaded text from my sister Jenni that my Mom’s test results came back as Stage IV lung cancer. I’m adding her journey to my blog for a number of reasons: to show & tell her journey, to give hope & inspiration to others, and to give myself an outlet to somehow deal with “it” again. My Mom is the strongest, bravest, and most loving woman I know. S

My Breast Cancer
Back in 2008, I created a meeshie.com website to share my story with other young women affected by breast cancer. Due to some technical difficulties, that website’s content was erased, and now I have to start from scratch – BOOOOO!. But as I start to write my story over, 4 years have past and a lot has happened in my life. So this version will be much different. I was diagnosed with Stage I breast cancer in 2006, just two weeks before by big “Dirty 30″ birthday. So I’m g
Lucy the Lump: Update #6

Lucy the Lump: Update #5
OK Peeps! Many of you have asked for pics of the “New Do”…so, I’ve decided to send out an updated email with pics of my HEAD…LOL…I look like a freakin’ Ostrich!!! (or a cute little baby chick…asian baby chick – Heehee). These were taken on Tuesday at work. I finally couldn’t take it anymore and last Friday had my mom use the clippers. I can’t shave it because my scalp is sensitive – so they tell us to just clipper it and let the rest of the hairs just fall out when they

Lucy the Lump: Update #2
OK Peeps! I did it! And so did Jenni – my little sister who had one length long hair down to her waist! “Thanks” to Megs, Alisha, and little Emma Jane who sat with us for 4 ½ hours last night drinking wine and eating pizza while we got our “hair did”! And SUPER THANKS to Mom who cut our hair and put in the funky colors!!! Hope you all like the pics (mind you these were taken at 10pm last night!!! :) Hugs n’ Kisses, -Meeshie :) ————————————————————————————————————————— Hi Pee

Lucy the Lump: Update #1
My Peeps! The surgery on Monday went well. I have 2 incisions: 1 on the top of the left nipple and a 3inch laceration under my left arm. Lucy ended up being 1.6cm – bigger than what they thought. My lymph nodes came back NEGATIVE – so that’s great news! However, since my tumor was so close to the surface of my skin, they couldn’t get a clear margin (meaning, a boarder without any signs of cancer). SO, Monday I will go back in so that Dr. Cheryl Olson can take some skin…
